Key item 1: fine striped knit look C

The bright skirt (£2.99 H&M) contrasts well with this knit. A little jewellery like the peace pendant (Urban Outfitters) or even the previous Aztec-style silver triangle necklace from previous images (Urban Outfitters) completes this simple, comfy weekend look.

Key item 1: fine striped knit

The first of my key buys is this fine knit striped jumper by Sparkle and Fade at Urban Outfitters (£38.00).

I normally don't spend this much on any top but so far in my life I have failed to find fine (or any) knitted jumpers that do not make me look 2 stone heavier than I am. I am not incredibly tall or flat chested like the models which typically these garments hang so beautifully from, AND I have really broad shoulders. One thing for sure though, I'm really glad I tried this one on and then a million times over again with everything in my wardrobe at home, because it really does seem to go with everything. The next few posts will hopefully show just how versatile this knit is, making it an ideal piece to start the capsule wardrobe blog!

What to expect...

Hi all! This blog is like most fashion blogs: to put pictures of outfits on for others to look at, and perhaps be inspired by them. However, I have a personal aim here! I know I am not alone when I say I have purchased so many clothes thinking "yeah, that'll go with X, Y, Z", then never actually teaming it with X, Y or Z, or, worse still, not wearing it at all (:-O)! So, there will be key buys and items that will be teamed with different garments (I'm setting a goal of a minimum of three different outfits for each key piece) to create a mini capsule wardrobe. Hopefully, by doing this, I will get more wear out of my own clothes and hopefully encourage others to do the same instead of shamefully hiding lovely clothes in the back of wardrobes, never seeing the light of day because they are being "saved for best" (or am I alone there?). Perhaps there will be one or two photos of those who inspire me also, providing they let me photograph them!
